WALMART BFL TOURNAMENT - Mountain Division -- April 4, 2009

I went to Dale Hollow Lake, TN. for a BFL Mountain Division tournament. I drew a boater named Pete and we had a great day of fishing after we got started late due to a 2 hour fog delay. He runs a Ranger Z520 with All American colors. This boat will be for sale this summer or fall, because it is a FLW boat.

We fished the Ill Will branch throwing spinner bait at wood and brush in 2 to 14 feet of water. Caught fish slow rolling in. Was a lite bite or they slammed it. Caught two fishing weighing 6-11. My boater caught three weighing 10-8, with the biggest being 5-15. This got both of us 10th place. This put me in 24th place in the standings.

The tournament was won in the Wolf River slow rolling a white & chartreuse spinner bait in 2 to 5 feet of water he had over 18 lbs. Was a good day, I learned alot and that is the benefit of being a co-angler on different bodies of water.

Looking forward to the next one @ Lake Cumberland, KY, Junior

WALMART BFL TOURNAMENT - Mountain Division - March 17, 2009

Well, the 2009 season has started. Went down to Kentucky and fished at Laurel River Lake, a BFL Mountain Division Tournament.

I did not do very good, it was very cold and raining. My boater only had one bite that was on the 3rd or 4th cast. Did not get another bite all day. But, I had a good time and met a nice man named Larry from Ky.

The lake was deep and clear. We fished 10 to 20 feet of water with a jig & pig and anything else I could tie on. It was so tough only 36 guys out of 131 caught fish at all. The winner had a nice bag weighing over 18 lbs. I did not hear how they were caught.

So I will get ready for the next tournament at Dale Hollow, Tn. I can only hope the weather is better and the fish bite.

See you on the water, Howard Jackson

ALLEN COUNTY BASSMASTERS TOURNAMENT - EAST HARBOR, OH (LAKE ERIE)
September 13, 2008

I stayed in the harbor, fishing the weeds and docks. Was able to catch a lot of little fish and one 14" keeper fish. Ended up placing 3rd.

For the year I won the club, had to fish pretty hard all year to be able to do this. Now that this season is over it is time to get ready for the next season.

ALLEN COUNTY BASSMASTERS TOURNAMENT - ELIZABETH PARK, MI
August 23, 2008

I stayed on the American side, fished up the river. Was able to catch one good fish (over 3#) using a frog. Caught the other one at the warm water discharge using a crank bait and tubes.

ALLEN COUNTY BASSMASTERS TOURNAMENT - LAKE CLEAR FORK, OH
July 26, 2008

I choose to fish this tournament with no practice time. Caught 1st fish on a frog. Then 2 hours later I caught a fish using a crank bait and then the last 2 fish of the day were caught using a spinner bait at the same location I caught my 1st one of the day. I ended up coming in 2nd place for the tournament with 6.9#. Not too bad using no practice time.

BFL TOURNAMENT - SANDUSKY BAY, OH
July 19, 2008

I had previously found fish out at Pelee Island, Canada. So I choose to run there on tournament day, but only caught one smallmouth. We caught a lot of sheepheads. Did not catch enough to weigh anything in.

I have chosen not to fish any of the remaining BFL tournaments in 2008, maybe will try some in 2009.

BFL TOURNAMENT - LAKE BURT MULLET, MI
June 7, 2008

I went up early to have some practice time. Found the fish were mostly on the beds, especially on Burt Lake. Most beds were 5 to 13' deep. Caught some on tubes.

On tournament day I choose to go to Burt Lake. Saw 3 boats had beat us to the beds, but was able to catch 1 keeper on a jerk bait. Decided to move to a couple of other spots but they all had boats on them. So we decided to go back to Mullett Lake. Another boater was on the bed I wanted to fish, since he would not move we decided to try some dock fishing. No bites. Ended up weighing in 1 fish, but it was over 5#.

Will look to do better next tournamet.

ALLEN COUNTY BASSMASTERS TOURNAMENT - LAKE ST. CLAIR, MI
June 28-29, 2008

Day One
Once again, unable to find any bigger fish, but I burnt alot of boat gas looking. Caught 1 fish weighing 4.9#, my partner caught 2 fish.

Day Two
We made a long run to the mouth of the Detroit River. My partner caught a 2 1/2# fish first thing, then I lost the one over 5#, that probably cost me "big bass". I did manage 3 fish for the day, giving me 11.3# for the tournament, placing me 3rd overall. Next tournament up is at Sandusky Bay.

2008 DETROIT RIVER OPEN

This is a buddy tournament, I was fishing with Canadian pro Bob Manns.

We were having a hard time finding any big fish, tried the bed fish figuring the big fish must have moved out deep. Ended up catching about 14# for the day, so we put them back before the weigh-in. We felt that would not have got us anything on Lake St. Clair.

Will have to try again next year

INDIAN LAKE, OH ALLEN COUNTY BASSMASTERS
May 24, 2008

This was a tough tournament, after fishing on Lake Erie

Had to make a milk run. Managed 3 fish weighing only 3.8 lbs. To show how tough it was, that won the tournament.

Caught my fish on jig & pig black.

Next tournament will be the Detroit Open

OHIO BASS FEDERATION REGION 2 TOURNAMENT
April 29, 2008

Day One
We launched out of West Harbor State ramp. My boat had been acting up for the last few weeks. The lake (Lake Erie) waves were to build 5 to 7 ft. So, I choose to stay in West Harbor and go for largemouth.

Fished in the back channels, caught all largemouth but, could only weigh 3 fish, little over 7 lbs.

Day Two
Day Two launch same ramp. On this day Lake Erie was to stay calm. I made the run to Kelly's Island.

Caught fish on crank bait 6 to 13 ft. Had 4 good fish, lost the crank bait I was using. Co-angler did not have a keeper fish. Took him to West Harbor, he got his limit.

I weighed in over 12 lbs with a 3 fish limit. Ended up with over 19 lbs as a 2 day total and was 22nd in the tournament. Had a 5.32 smallmouth, was just a few ounces shy of Big Bass, but a good one for any limit.

Next tournament will be Allen County Bassmasters on Indian Lake.

Hello, the tournament season has started. First tournament was at West Harbor on Lake Erie for the Allen County Bassmasters. I did OK. Went to Kelly's Island, did not get any bites. Went into East Harbor, caught our fish there. Had Big Bass of the tournament, was caught in the back of the harbor off a rock wall. Would like to have done better. Placed 3rd in the tournament. Next tournament is Region 2 Tournament. Thank you for visiting my site.
